Current sales stage field does not show default valuesy

Dear All,
Just wanted to know that how can we change the current sales stage to default value which has been given in sales process.Currently when i change the sales stage from sales stage 1 to any sales stage ,the current sales stage field does not pop up with the given default value.

Quick response will be highly apprecaited.
