Assignment Payroll Correction using HR_ASSIGNMENT_API

I am trying to do correction on Assignment payroll using API (apps.hr_assignment_api.update_emp_asg_criteria), it works all fine as intended.

However, when i try doing the same correction using PUI forms - i get this caution message

APP-PAY-07442:Element entries including atleast one salary Entry has been changed. Do you want to continue

If i say yes - it end dates salary as of the correction date and does correction on payroll name.

The same thing doesn't happen when i try doing it through API. Why is it different, am i not using right API....please help...
