Forecast Calendar question

in Sales, Marketing, and Territories Apps - EBS (MOSC) Question
Hi, we're setting up Sales Online in 11.5.10.2.  We've been using financials and other modules for a long time but Sales Online is a new module for us.  We have a 13month accounting calendar defined and want to understand what are the implications and whether it is necessary to define a new calendar to allow our sales online forecasts to be managed by quarter instead of by month.  I've looked through the implementation and user guides and searched MOS but have not found anything that identifies the relationship between the forecasting calendar and other module's functionality.
