12c Agent Deployment Prequisite Fail

I am using the agent push facility from the OEMCC 12c console (12.1.0.2 OMS, 11.2.0.2.7 Respository) and find I am running afoul of the following requirement:

All or one of the parent directories of agent base directory is not owned by install user or root user.

This was NOT a prequisite for my 10.2.0.5 and 11.1 agents and is causing me headaches since I do not control the owner of the parent directory of the the agent base directory.  This is especially a problem as I want to reuse my previous agent base directory for the new 12c agent push and find many of them violate this prequisite.
