Oracle VM Manager - console applet fails to open terminal window to VM

I wonder if anyone else an issue connecting to a virtual machine fron the Oracle VM manager. Since a couple of days I can no longer connect via the console to newly created VMs, whether they are created from a template or from scratch.
The console spawns 2 Java Webstart processes, where the VNC viewer's last output is "connected to server". That's where it stops, no exceptions or error messages.
To existing VMs I can connect just fine, no issue there which eliminates the Java version on the client as a possible issue, same goes for the firewall. Anyone had similar issues?
