RAC on system Z or RAC on VMware????

We are in the process of moving to a new infrastructure. We have couple of options with us.
1. RAC on systems Z.
What is the performance of RAC on zLinux? Did anyone encountered any issues after building them?

2. RAC on VMware.
Is it advisable to build multiple instance nodes on VMware environment. If yes, what would be the performance of this compared to RAC on physical servers?
What issues do we encounter if we use RAC on VMware?

If there are any oracle notes please let me know.
