Asset Transfer - Mass Copy

I am newbie in Asset and would like to ask you a question.  I added Asset in EQUIPMENT category in CORP Book. If I run a periodic mass transfer to TAX BOOK, how would the system know which asset category it will be recorded in the TAX book?. Thank you.
