Use of Dependent segment in COA (Accounting Flexfield)

Hi

we are implementing R12.1.3 and we need to know is there any disadvantages or impact in using the Dependent segment in our Accounting Flexfield (Subaccount is dependent to Account segment)

Accounting method is Encumbarance Accrual.
