Capturing Product Regulatory Information

I am looking for a way to capture regulatory information about our products.  We are in the Life Sciences area and need to provide our customer with regulatory information related to our products.  I considered just using a category code in the item master but there are many products that have multiple pieces of regulatory information that we need to provide including species of origin, safety hazards, etc...  I could not find any place in the system that was designed to capture this information.  What are other Life Sciences Organizations doing?
