RDBPROD: DBMS - PW LOCK ON SNAPSHOT

Hi,

 

We saw this yesterday evening. An ACMS process had a PW lock on page 17559 in area 9 (Snapshot).  This persisted for 4 minutes, which locked out a lot of processes that were trying to put a PR lock on the same page. I don't understand why we are seeing PW locks on Snapshots.  Can anyone explain in terms I may understand. I am a developer thrown in the deep end of DBAing :-(
