Automatic End Dating od Instances when they are shipped

Is there any way of setting up Oracle to automatically enter an End Date on the instance when it is shipped?

We have items that are IB trackable which also have a shelf life.  Is there a way to use this information to automatically calculate the End Date from the Shipping Date or some other method. 

For example the item has a shelf life of 6 months so the duration from shipping to the End Date is a fixed multiple (defined as a profile) of the shelf life, say 4 then if it is shipped 1 Jan 2013 then the End Date generated is 31 Dec 2014
