rman performance issue after upgrade

hi,

Got an odd one. Have upgraded from 11.1.0.6 to 11.2.0.3. we have also purged data from the database but the time taken for the rman backup has increased from 4 hours to 7 hours. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could cause this? Hardware has not changed.
