Backup strategy after EBS patching.

Dear All,

We are planing to migrate from os backup commands(cold backup) to RMAN in EBS r12.1.1 in the DB tier. just want to clarify is it mandatory to get a APPS tier backup every weekly , or is it enough to get a backup of the apps tier after a patch or a change in the apps tier,
