Item master description in local language

hi

I want to define Item master descriptions in Local languages of users. As of now, the item master description is in English. But, local users want to see the item descriptions in their own languages. I tried to use Alternate description functionality of item master. But, even if I define the alternate description in local language, and change the Language code in User profile revisions, the item master description still comes in English.

Is there any way to set up system so that I can have Item description defined in English in Item master. And descriptions in local languages setup somewhere. And user can see the local descriptions on their own on runtime.
