Revenue Recognition VS Revenue Recognition Master

There are two revenue recognition programs: Revenue Recogniztion and Revenue Recognition Master. The Revenue Recognition Master program is for parallel procesing only and takes advantage of the  Oracle scalability feature to reduce processing time by running on multiple processors, or workers  This does not tell me much.  It will be great to hear an example of what are those parallel programs are when you run the Revenue Recognition Master.
