Ulimit calculation

 Hi,       How do we calculate the ulimit (open files) for oracle product. Default minimum recommend by oracle is 4096. Some of our EM 12c Agent hit a "too many open files" issues even after we set it to 4096.
What is the consequence if we set it to unlimited?
