Shutting down a standby

Hi ,

I am wondering is it possible to shutdown a standby permantly without impacting the primary ( including without changing the configuration on the primary database).  We currently have a primary database (Oracle10g) with 3 standbys going along with it.  One of  standby is twice running behind on archive logs with the primary in a week.  We had to restart the standby host all the way to get it by in sync.  Since I am already in the process of upgrading the whole system to use Oracle11g with new hardware, if shutting down the trouble standby won't impact the production for
