Upgrade to 11gR2 and RHEL 5.8 - 64bit at same time

We currently have a RAC Database running 11gR1 on RHEL 5.5 - 64bit. The ASM uses Raw devices (not ASMLib).
We are planning to upgrade to 11gR2, and was wondering if there will be an issue if we also upgrade to RHEL 5.8 at the same time.

What is the preferred way to do this:
1) should we upgrade Linux from 5.5 to 5.8 first, and then upgrade the Oracle GI and Database to 11gR2?

2) should we upgrade the Oracle GI and Database to 11gR2 first, make sure everything is running correctly, and then upgrade Linux?

My concern is that the Oracle install is dependent on certain Linux rpms, and I'm not sure if upgrading Linux once Oracle has been installed will effect Oracle's running, since certain rpm version will change.

Howdy, Stranger!
