Maximum Data Sent/Received on Web Service

Hi,
We have Contact and Contact Note entity to be sent and received on outbound and inbound web service over HTTP.
The Note field is DTYPE_NOTE.

Can we send/receive DTYPE_NOTE field over such web service?

Is there any limit on data to be sent/received in Siebel 8.0/8.1 in a web service call?
