Getting generic "no data found" error whil trying to create a Bill of Materials

In order for Oracle to generate warranty contracts when a certain item is sold, the warranty item needs to be set up as a component of a BOM for that item.  We have a new item for which a warranty contract will be attached, so I'm trying to create the BOM for the item and its warranty.

I've logged into the application with a Bill of Materials Superuser responsibility.  The warranty item is the only component attached to the main item.  When I try to save this bill, I get a very simple error window, showing simply, "ORA-01403:  no data found".  This is all it says.  I have idea what is not found.  All required fields seem to be filled out.  The data does save -- the BOM tables have the item and the warranty.  Yet every time I query up this bill on the Bill of Materials form, it pops up with this "no data found" error window.
