Why the system takes long time to process after users click 'Approve' button in a Purchase Requistio

It found that the system gradually take long time to process PO or PR approval when users click "Approve" button from the screen and the screen will hold waiting for about 1 minute and go back to be active.

How can we find what it is doing or improve this situation?
