RAC installation question

I am trying to make a list of everything that needs to be done in order to install RAC on the server. I am planning to have a 2 node cluster, so I know i will need 7 IP addresses.


First I need to create 7 IP addresses since I will need that information for installation and ensure that all nodes are running the same operating system and have the same system typ. i.e. 32-bit or 64-bit.

I also must enter those IP addresses and host names into the /etc/hosts file. As far as I understand, the /etc/hosts file is used to associate IP addresses of the nodes (public and private) with hostnames.
