Setting default value in Inventory Master Item DFF does not publish to Advanced Product Catalog Desc

I was hoping that someone could help

We are using Advanced Product Catalog to create Items and have generated a set of descriptive attributes for user entry. These APC descriptive attributes can also be seen when we navigate to the descriptive flexfield on the Master Item Header DFF via the inventory responsibility in forms.

In forms I have set a default value on the DFF segment for one of the descriptive flexfield attributes and when i open the master item form and enter the DFF then I can see the defaulted value as expected.

What I am struggling with is that this defaulted value is not defaulting into the same field in the descriptive attributes section of Advanced product catalog...
