Passed Serial Number (UUA-0000019) violates uniqueness with in Inventory items

Hi,

We observed that user forgot to link the service item to BOM Item and complete one sales transcation.

When we observed that warrenty not present for respective item instance , we follow below steps. :

1. Attatched warrenty item to the BOM Item.

2. Expire the existing instance.

3. Try to create a new instance.

But it shows error "Passed Serial Number (UUA-0000019) violates uniqueness with in Inventory items"

4. We run the resubmit interface process program with parameter "all" Till we face the same error.

Can anybody guide how to resolve this error ?, what will be the analysis steps and how to avoid this infuture.
