How to properly disconnect a USB DVD-writer

edited Apr 16, 2013 1:50AM in Oracle Solaris System Administration (MOSC) 4 commentsAnswered
I've connected and successfully used an USB DVD-writer.Now I'd like to properly disconnect/remove it.

There's nothing mounted to unmount.
Nor there's no icon on Gnome desktop, except that the drive is listed in Places|Computer.
I can see it with cfgadm but cfgadm -c unconfigure isn't successful.
$ sudo cfgadm -c unconfigure usb9/7
Password:
Unconfigure the device: /devices/pci@0,0/pci103c,2a6f@1d,7:7
This operation will suspend activity on the USB device
Continue (yes/no)? yes
cfgadm: Hardware specific failure: Cannot issue devctl to ap_id: /devices/pci@0,0/pci103c,2a6f@1d,7:7
Please, what am I missing?

Howdy, Stranger!
