VMI check box on Consumption setup form

Dear All,
Customer works on R11.5.10.

They get a question on Consumption setup form.
Nav:Inv>setup>transactions>Consigned/VMI consumption

The query is as below:
1.What's the different between VMI and  Consigned check box
2.What does the mean of VMI and Consigned check box respectively if they are checked.
Consume Consigned check box to perform consumption when the specified transaction type executes. How about VMI?
3.Can both check box(VMI and  Consigned) checked?

Please help to confirm. Thanks.
