Is FLASHBACK ANY TABLE really necessary for GoldenGate?

I've seen it mentioned several times that this privilege must be granted to the goldengate user (GGSADM) used by the Extract and Replicat, but I fail to understand why? In what scenario would this grant be used by GoldenGate? Can I revoke it until I need it?

Addtional Info
Support Doc 1063374.1 identifies this as a grant that, if not given, could prevent using DBLOGIN in the ggsci.exe interface. I tested this by:
  1. Stopping the extracts and manager
  2. Revoking this privilege from GGSADM
  3. Starting the manager and extracts
Manager and extracts started just fine.
  1. Explicitly connecting to the database through ggsci.exe using the DBLOGIN command

Howdy, Stranger!
