Creating different shipment numbers within the same sales order

A customer will order items that are in stock (SO line type S) and items that need to be assembled (SO line type W) on the same sales order. Upon order entry, how can I have the system create two different shipment numbers for the same sales order? The W line type will need 5 days to complete whereas the S line type could ship today.
