Can you submit a UBE using RUNUBEXML in a CL program on the AS/400 and also pass the UBE parameters

I need to be able to call a UBE from within a CL program and pass the UBE report interconnect parameters from variable in the CL. Can this be done and if so, does anyone have sample code that shows how it can be done?  RUNUBE does not work because you can not pass any variables that way but supposedly RUNUBEXML has Report Interconnect functionality.
