Using Siebel URL with SWE commands to do screen pop for CTI

We are thinking about using the Siebel URL with SWE commands to do screen pop for CTI.  The reason for doing this is because there is an issue with our CTI software.  This is just workaround for now.  What I would like to find out is to get a better understanding if anyone has done this before.  If so, what is the user experience and what impact does this have when using the Siebel URL to do screen pop.
