Can Java 1.4.2 be removed without affecting Solaris functionality?

I notice that a new article on how to update java 1.4.2 on Solaris 10 [ID 1546374.1] has been published.  Previously, our organization was not able to update 1.4.2, so it was removed from our servers.  Does any part of Solaris OS require the use of Java 1.4.2?
