Dynamic Page Layouts

I am one of the system administrators of our CRM On Demand application.  We have created a dynamic layouts for our appointments and task based on the type.  We have setup the dynamic information and have set the role page layout to Dynamic.  The issue is that it appears that when using the dynamic option the standard page layout displays initially and we want the page to default to a custom page that has the type at the top.  Is there a way to do this?
