Cost adjustment in period of adding

Hi,

In R12, once we add asset, if we change the asset cost (before running depreciation for that month), it takes it as cost adjustment. It changes the current cost but keeps original cost. Where as in 11i, if we do same transaction before running depreciation, it changes original cost to new value. Is functionality in R12 intended or we are missing something in setup?
