Transfer to GL Organization Parameter

We are on Oracle E-Business Suite 11.5.10.2.  The "Transfer to GL" organization parameter for all of our orgs is set to Summary. However, I cannot see where anything is transferring over automatically to the GL. I know for a fact that our Controller has been making manual GL entries to account for any changes in inventory cost.  I am wondering what step, if any, we have been missing...i.e. why don't these accounting entries transfer automatically?  Also, if it is not our intention to transfer these accounting entries automatically, can I safely change the organization parameter to "None" for Transfer to
