Tip: Payroll Year-End W-2 eFile will not process if employee address has special characters in it.

Just wanted to add a quick post to the community that when we uploaded our W-2 files on the Gov't SSA website for tax year 2012, we got a response that one of the files did not process due to errors. 

We identified the missing record by comparing the totals we reported versus what processed on the gov't site and then looked for the employee whose W-2 totals matched the variance. 

When we looked closer at the employee record data within the actual W-2 text efile we tried to upload, I noticed that this was the only record that was mis-aligned very slightly compared to the rest of the records starting after Address Line 1 info.  When I looked at the data in the address, there was a tiny arrow (looked like subscript text) that was plugged in between the last 2 letters of the street name.  The actual entered Address Book street name was "Madelene's Way".  The apostrophe was converted to "Madelene
