java/lang/NoClassDefFoundError in Solaris 10

Hi,
I have one solaris sparc (Sun Blade 2500) box with Solaris 10 as Operating System (Solaris 10 3/05 s10_74L2a SPARC).
I have installed jdk1.6.0_35 in /opt directory. But when i am trying to do java -version, getting below error.
Am i missing sometihing ? Do i need to set classpath or java_home ?


bash-3.00# cd /opt/jdk1.6.0_35/bin/sparcv9/

bash-3.00# ./java -version
Error occurred during initialization of VM
java/lang/NoClassDefFoundError: java/lang/Object
bash-3.00#
