Upgrade from 3.1.1 to 3.2.2 - Ne er did it before and have questions

My environment consist of 3 OVS servers and OVM.  The current environment is running 3.1.1.365.  I plan to upgrade to 3.2.2.  My question is.  When I upgrade OVM first, do the VM guess have to be down?  If the VM do not have to be down, how would I do a live migration?  As for the backend OVS servers, do I migrate the VM guess to another host before I upgrade?  Or does that happen auto-magically by OVM when I start the upgrade process?  Tyring to figure out all of the gottchas before the upgrade.  Thanks.
