WLS httpClusterServlet for OEM 12c

The built-in load balancer in WLS using httpClusterServlet seems too good to be true.  
What are the risks of using this servlet?

Is this a supported configuration for OEM 12c?

Is documentation specific to this configuration - within OEM12c - available?  

Are there special considerations required for OEM 12c?  

I've asked key portions of this question in the WLS community forum, too.  I'll share what I learn there with this group.
