Generic FSG Template not sufficient?

We have several FSG Reports such as Balance Sheet (BS) and Income Statement (IS). Currenlty, when we run it we are just using  Generic FSG Template. Based on the report  we selected ( either BS or IS) it pulling the correct row and column and  the report was published in excel , pdf and html.

What is the value of creating another template  or it is necessary to create your own template?
