Implementation Options - Maintain Common PA and GL Period Functionality

HI,
I want to know how Maintain Common PA and GL Period Functionality will work?

My doubt is If i create New Period in GL Example : Jan 14 start date 01-Jan-2014 to 31-Jan-2014.  I enable Implementation Options -  Maintain Common PA and GL Period Functionality. whether  New Period i created in GL get automatically copied to PA period form? 

Or i have clieck PA Period: Copy from GL Period i need click?

Pls clarify
