Checking and begin backup

I want to know is there any way to estimate the begin backup time and checkpoint differences ? From past few days we are facing issue with begin backup and it's taking around 2-3 hours.
Reasons are heavy job running in EBP. We want to find out prior to begin backup .whether it's the right time or not. Pls. suggest if there is any script available for that!
