Assets with a type of Expensed

We do not use the Tax books features currently in Oracle Fixed Assets and we would like to beable to track assets expensed but treated differently for income tax purposes. We are exploring the option of entering the items as an asset type of "Expensed".

I have a couple of questions concerning Assets with a type of Expensed,

1 - To create an Asset with a type of expense, do you need to setup specific Asset Categories to track those or can existing categories be used?

2- Once an asset is created with a type of expense, is there any difference between selling or retiring those assets from other capitatlized assets?

Howdy, Stranger!
