What platform should I use?

I have oracle 11gr2 rac DB on oracle linux 4 X64 Dual-Core AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 2218, using ASM on EMC SAN. Online archive log is in ASM too.

I want to setup disaster recovery system with minimum requirment.  I know we create a standby system. To do so, what the plat form should I choose?

Do I still need ASM on EMC or can I just build asm on regular hard disk? I think the machine should be same OS same version, but could it be lower class processors?
