How to use and implement Dataguard

Dear All,
We are thinking to use a data guard as a solution to the disaster recovery.
We are
1. Using Oracle EBS R12.1.2 with one Enterprise 11.1.0.7 DB.
2. We have extra Server we will use as standby database for this solution.
3. We don't have enough money to implement more expensive solutions such as RAC.
We have the following questions:
1. Is data guard needs to be installed. Or it is just some configuration you need to do?
2. Does it need a license? Or can we just use it.
3. Is it easy to install/configure?
4. Is there a step by step manual or site with screen shoots that show how to?
