Is there a way to keep the inventory's cost to zero and not calculate the average cost in an average

Hi Experts,

we are currently set up to do Average cost, however, we have some tools/part number- that we purchase and charges our purchase price to expense.
 Is there a way to keep the inventory's cost to $0 and not calculate the average? .  We would like to be able to purchase as Goods, be able to transact the inventory, and be able to stock but does not want the cost to be on our books.

Is there a way to do this?
