RMAN-08132: WARNING: cannot update recovery area reclaimable file list

When my rman backup completes it ends with the following and I haven't been able to determine what needs to be fixed.

ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-01861: literal does not match format string            

RMAN-08132: WARNING: cannot update recovery area reclaimable file list

Any ideas?  The backup files all seem to be ending up in the correct place.  I changed some of the configuration parameter to see if I could fix the ora-01861 - but from what I see the files are getting backed up.
