Several issues with external tier using reverse proxy

We are facing several issues with external tier that is using reverse proxy.

The external tier is flaky. 

·         1) If the users enter everything just right they can sign in.  Any typo will make the screen time out when they should receive an invalid user/password message.

·          2) Signing off times out and the browser throws an error. 



        Any help?
