How to create export to excel button

We have a user that came from another company that used Oracle and he said that he could like on a button and data would export to excel.  I'm unsure if it was from Oracle application forms or once a concurrent request completed.  He said that he could a button and would export.  What are the steps to create a button for users to do this?
