OTL: How to Store Project ID on the Seeded Timekeeper Form

We are using OTL with Projects on the seeded timekeeper form, but would like to store Project ID in the database rather than Project Number.  We created a custom valueset to display Project Number to timekeepers, but to insert Project ID in the database, but get errors either when configuring the Alternate Name Mapping or when trying to open the timekeeper form.  Has anyone successfully done this, and if so, could you share the valueset you created?  Thanks for any assistance.
