"ORACLE" User : Is it required ? Is it Oracle supplied?

Problem Description

We have an oracle user on our database but cannot attribute it to any install!
It has a default profile but no expiry date despite the default profile enforcing one.
We can only assume that it is a system account or provided by an install.
Could you please shed any light on this?
It owns no objects and the only privilege is unlimited tablespace.
Is it safe to disable?
